LOST Records has long prided itself on being at ‘the forefront of the future of dance music’. And while that may sound like something of a grandiose statement, it’s not too far from the truth either, especially when we consider the merits of their latest, which arrives on our doorsteps from the inimitable Jonny Cade, a man who’s suitably well equipped to conjure up some similarly inclined soundscapes. And on the Work it Out EP, he achieves this with some gusto, as he delivers 3 originals of devastating effectiveness.
Opening the EP we have the sounds of Work It Out. Catchy and a real joy to behold, it’s the sort of gem that is full of colour and vigour throughout. A dizzyingly hypnotic track, it saunters at a great pace, captivating us thanks to its vocal splices and its penchant for the groove. Elsewhere, we have the dramatic tones of ‘Her of ‘Here to Stay ‘ with its clever sample and ‘Whack Ass’ that merges hip hop aesthetics and house vibes. Tapesh then provides a remix of ‘Work It Out’, but Raffa FL steals the crown with a remix of ‘here to Stay’ that’ll live long in the memory long after the night’s last bet has dropped. In all, this is really fantastic stuff from Cade and the LOST players.
